Adults

Christian education opportunities for adults to learn together are available weekly at Covenant Presbyterian Church — and not just on Sunday mornings. In addition to the classes described below that meet at 9:45 a.m. on Sundays, there are weekly gatherings and often one-time special programs or learning opportunities to be had with a number of the groups that also regularly meet for fellowship (see also the “Gather” section of our website here). We explore biblical, theological, spiritual and ethical topics together in these varied offerings. Brief descriptions of our regular Sunday opportunities follow, but you should be sure to look for announcements in the bulletin and in our weekly newsletter The Covenanter.

Sunday Mornings

THE BUILDERS CLASS

Our newest class—led by Pastor Tom—meets each Sunday in the Library right outside the doors to the Worship Center. What are you building? Pastor Dana facilitates this class designed for people of all ages who see themselves as building something. Whether you are in the process of building a marriage, a family a career, a legacy, or something else, you are invited to join us for a weekly faith-based discussion of theological issues.

THE JOURNEY CLASS

This class meets in the classroom across from the Children’s (K-5) Sunday School Class and welcomes all adults who wish to participate in a discussion format led by class members, focusing on group-selected books or other lesson materials. We offer a Zoom connection for those who are unable to participate in person. Currently, this class is reading and discussing Jimmy Carter’s “Faith: A Journey for All.”

THE UPPER ROOM CLASS

This class meets in the “Upper Room” Classroom at the top of the ramp and Via Zoom. James Malone hosts and different class members facilitate the discussion of the weekly chapter in “The Present Word.”

Weekday Gatherings

WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDY

This class meets in the Library outside the doors to the Worship Center every Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. (September to May). No homework, prep-work, or experience is required. Everyone—including Pastor Dana—enters the text with fresh eyes and a chance to explore God’s Word together. Those who participate find their experience of hearing the sermon the following Sunday enhanced by this deep dive into the scripture passage for the week.

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN

Covenant’s women meet on the Second Thursday of every month for a time of Bible Study, fellowship and service. They are guided in their study by “PW/Horizons” Bible Study, the PC(USA) Presbyterian Women Curriculum. Childcare is available upon advance request. Bring a friend!
